How wishes come true?

Image
Wish. Mannat. Dua. Have you ever tried making a wish and realizing it getting true. Even that not so happening wishes for ice cream or your new iPod or for that oh so nice person in your life! People visit temple, mosque, church, gurudwara and whatnot. All the places are the same to me. You know, why? Because they make your wishes come true. But how? When we say we are part of nature and God is our own depiction then how come people visit different places of worship and still realize their wish or mannat. Why we have different gods in our hearts; we seek differently things; we believe in different belief systems but still we realize our individual wish or mannat fulfilled. Why? Does it prove there is a Supreme that can make wishes come true? Maybe, yes. I have also tried it once in my school days. I had to appear for my exams and just before a week I happened to visit a temple with my sister. Just for the sack of it, I wished for ab...

What Religion do to us?

What is God? Is the Nature god because we are all children of Nature? If we must worship the god, it’s in the form of worshiping Nature, the way our ancestors did in ancient times. If worshiping God in humans, scriptures, buildings and symbols then shouldn't we understand their meaning first and accordingly grasp the teachings and values of them rather than worshiping them blindly? Religion gives food to the needy but fear to the greedy. Religion is a support to a person in despair and gives an excuse to corrupt to play fair. It is a win-win situation to both. To lesson his burden of unaccounted wealth, a pittance of that is distributed in the name of religion. What is wrong?  Nothing. A hungry mouth gets his loaf and thanks God. That giving hand shares in hope of cleansing his sins and unburdens his load. It’s a win-win situation for both. The society benefits. Everyone benefits. What gets...

New Year doesn't need resolutions!

Resolution. Revolution. Renovation. Sounds similar! No. Not particularly. Read again. Resolution. Revolution. Renovation. Yes. I agree. They are different. But they are inter-connected, when it comes to making resolutions. When I was a kid and people used to ask me my new year resolution, I used to fiddle with these words in my mind and then used to bounce same question on many, though the word used to be generally ‘revolution’ because that was the easiest for me to remember due to my history chapter ‘revolution of 1857-India’ and somehow I used to link both the words together, getting confused and confusing the other person as well. Never did I care till I really understood these words. But when I dig these words a bit deeper – Does Resolution not need a whole lot of Revolution in our attitude and Renovation of our thought process to take the huge step of changing a habit which is sticking with us for god knows since how long! Yes, what I ...

Plan your day

Image
It's not always right to wait for the tide to be in our favor. We have to be proactive to know the wind and understand the weather to proceed accordingly. Things will be somewhat similar. Sometimes there'd be rain, sometimes drought, sometimes fall and some other times floods to complain about . Spring is for a very short while only. Problems and constraints change as per the situation but they're never out of sight if we focus on them. Let's focus on our goal. What we want from the day,for the day.  What I do today will shape my future. Even if I've nothing to do, I must make a to-do list to find out what all I'm capable of and what all challenges lie ahead.

Budgeting

Budgeting gives me jitters.  My dad had been accounting each paisa in his life and he’d been very sharp at it too, and maybe I also inherited his habit of counting and recounting and accounting my sheets of green paper again and again.  I also get a sort of pleasure in doing so but I sometimes feel that I behave like a miser on occasions. Leave alone hard currency, my sister still teases me about a time of our childhood when I had lent a small stud of a pencil to my classmate and she’d to come to our house to return that, and I  didn't  let her enter our house.  It’s a different matter actually as I had always been very conscious of myself and my house for certain reasons, and I was always conscious of ‘what’ll people say?’ thing which I gradually realized is a damn thing in itself. Secondly, I was very private person, never liking intruding in my space by anybody due to the same fear of people’s judgments. Okay.  ...

Positive thinking : Achieving excellence

Most of us keep waiting for the perfect day to pop up somewhere. But no. That day never comes perhaps because all the days are same. Only our perception and attitude changes the day from good to bad or bad to good. With technological advances, we are carried away by the success stories or the portrayals of selfie obsessed people and start believing them word by word. No world is perfect for anybody. The difference lies in our head.  We have to make the difference and for that purpose it's damn important that we do our best at this moment rather than waiting for a rose garden across the shore. All of us can not be the moon but we can be a star in the arena we are working right now.  We can be a good human being. We can be a little more kind and compassionate.  We don't need to strangulate our relationships under the burden of false expectations. What more is needed?  A smile a day is more than enough to make this day and a sincere effort to carry on wit...

Purpose in life:)

When we come on this Earth, we already have so many strings attached to ourselves. These strings are in the form of expectations.  The ups and downs of life must not deter us from doing the doable - our duties From a baby to our journey upwards, we have to constantly confirm to the demands set by others. Sometimes, we are successful in getting our way and many a times we have to pave the way. We have to succumb to the demands of 'others', who are very much a part of ourselves but they refuse to understand us. When we seek the approvals we are told ' use your head', but when we take the plunge we are frowned upon ' Did you even ask me?'. It's a dual mindset society.  Conviction is the key. Do we always have to look up to others for our deeds.  At every step in our life we must take the fear head on - No matter I don't confirm to their standards; if my deeds are good for myself, I make something worthwhile then it's ok to follow my...
