New Year doesn't need resolutions!
Resolution.
Revolution. Renovation.
Sounds
similar!
No.
Not particularly.
Read
again.
Resolution.
Revolution. Renovation.
Yes.
I agree.
They
are different.
But
they are inter-connected, when it comes to making resolutions.
When
I was a kid and people used to ask me my new year resolution, I used to fiddle
with these words in my mind and then used to bounce same question on many,
though the word used to be generally ‘revolution’ because that was the easiest
for me to remember due to my history chapter ‘revolution of 1857-India’ and
somehow I used to link both the words together, getting confused and confusing
the other person as well.
Never
did I care till I really understood these words.
But
when I dig these words a bit deeper – Does Resolution not need a whole lot of Revolution
in our attitude and Renovation of our thought process to take the huge step of
changing a habit which is sticking with us for god knows since how long!
Yes,
what I think is that this process is –
First,
we resolve to solve our present problems which are by products of our past habits.
Deeper down in our consciousness we know that we are lacking behind and we may
be blaming x,y,z I mean ANYBODY but
ourselves.
As a
result, all this clutter of laziness keeps piling up year after year. Some of
us carry on like this and just make a fancy fashionable resolution which lasts
for a few days or a few weeks at the most from the date and drink of our New
Year bash, and it needs a real revolution to kick this garb off our shoulders.
Then,
we need to renovate our chipping old lazy attitude which is stinking and
peeling off our personality and yielding no results with fresh paints of
thoughts to make our future brighter and shinier.
But before
that, a good amount of hard scrubbing is required on the surface of our soul and
thinking to shake ourselves off the old self.
And last
but not the least important is making the revolution of getting into action
gear and achieving our targets and sticking to them first thing in the morning when
we open our eyes and last thing when we close our eyes to sweet dreams.
Writing
down the goals helps but most important is to keep focused and keep reminding
on every first of the month that we have a path to follow and a destination to
reach.
Every
day, whatever we do will decide on the 31st of this year, where we
stand.
So New Year does not need resolutions to proceed; we need revolution of
our attitude to get going to achieve something better and brighter and renovate
our present which will be our past and will trail towards our future.
