Is it Enough to Keep our Homes Clean!

OFF THE PARCEL GOES...




"Parcel the packet off the window".


Last night leftover is to be adjusted. What's the easy way? Parcel the packet off the window. 

This is the privilege you get when you live on upper floors. 

And what about that parcel? Can't we throw it in the dustbin or give it to the garbage collecting boy?

"Come on!" There are so many dogs around the lanes. They'll feast on the parcels. 

So casual and so cool a reply. As if doing some kind of social service. 

What about the people, who live downstairs? 

None of our business! 

How nice. 

WE ARE WELL EDUCATED, CIVILIZED PEOPLE! 




YOU ARE SELFISH 

& 

HAVE VESTED INTERESTS IF YOU POKE YOUR NOSE IN GARBAGE AROUND YOU!!!
All the garbage strewn around the stairs. 

A civilized, well educated MBA teacher in vicinity. She loves to keep her home hygienic by keeping garbage bin and all sorts of diya, puja things etc. around the stairs.

I made the mistake of trying to poke my nose in her hygienic movement, when one day it was too much for me to see garbage all around. 

Very politely, she replied,"We are keeping our home hygienic. You know, we can't take risk! We have a small kid at home. What would happen to his health if the garbage bin is inside the house?" Can't help it! Will have to keep the bin outside in the stairs. 

While she was explaining her helplessness, her three years' old was hygienically passing amidst the filth, bare feet.

I tried to reason out,"But...dogs climb up everyday to feast on the garbage and leave their marks and their hygienic shit!" 

"Tell the other side neighbors, they kept so much garbage,today!"We keep one bin only." She is so reasonable. I agree.

I tried to convince,"Garbage has a tendency to accumulate. You keep a pile on a clean ground and It would get a mountain of garbage at the end of the day, at the same once-upon-a-clean-spot."

She didn't accept my reasons."You insist on not keeping this garbage bin out, because you want all the space of stairs, from top till down, to keep your plants!" "You remove your plants and I'd keep my garbage there." She gave me some garbage for thought. 

I was shocked! Speechless! What an explanation! What a reasoning! 

I have still not recovered from her cold stares,for stopping her keep garbage bin on stairs. 

I'm still wondering if keeping surroundings clean is such a Herculean task?


IS IT ENOUGH TO CLEAN OUR HOMES?


Our house clean, gleaming marble floors, each and everything is dusted and kept on place. A beautiful house, a sweet home!

We love sweet homes!

We like to live in beautiful houses!

 Do the stairs, the way to your house - belongs to somebody else.

What is inside, that is outside!

If  our surroundings are dirty, how can we call our hearts clean?

Not our homes but our environment, our surroundings and everyplace around it is our home. Because our Home is a small entity, comprising a friction of the whole.

It seems, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has cleaned up with the demonetization. Will the government, please make a rule against spreading filth around the common public area as firm as one on demonetization?

Or can't we learn some clean habits ourselves?

Wish. Mannat. Dua. Have you ever tried making a wish and realizing it getting true. Even that not so happening wishes for ice cream or your new iPod or for that oh so nice person in your life! People visit temple, mosque, church, gurudwara and whatnot. All the places are the same to me. You know, why? Because they make your wishes come true. But how? When we say we are part of nature and God is our own depiction then how come people visit different places of worship and still realize their wish or mannat. Why we have different gods in our hearts; we seek differently things; we believe in different belief systems but still we realize our individual wish or mannat fulfilled. Why? Delhi getting colder

I move. No. Do I say I shiver? Yes. I am shivering so I am moving. I am not moving ever since this winter has attacked full on in Delhi and I seem to be the most affected, I suppose. People are roaming around even in their half sleeves but I can’t even imagine myself without my four sweaters, one jacket, two layers of lowers, caps, gloves and socks to be the least items covering me from head to toe. A few days back, I saw a lady in Metro, in a half sleeves dress and seeing her left me in cold but this time I didn't react because I knew she was well off to afford a sweater and she was not in that strata of 'poor lady not having anything warm' types so I ignored. But last year, I literally made a mistake of melting on seeing a girl without socks  and sweater and I somehow felt pity on her. I removed my socks and sweater and stretched to offer them to that girl. She thanklessly and mercilessly took them and threw in the nearest dustbin available.

It was a tea time discussion among us, when one of our senior doctor colleague started a new thread.  She was getting a mixed bout of feelings when she shared her thoughts with us.  These thoughts were further evoked brain storming when I visited many villages and small towns of Rajasthan and found that this is something which really needed our attention. DO WE WISH OUR KIDS TO STAY WITH US OR SETTLE ABROAD ? Her daughter was getting a scholarship to Singapore and she was supposed to join the said institution after her studies, that meant that her daughter would be gone out of her sweet home for about a decade, if not less! Now, my colleague feared that once her daughter would be out of this country, she might never return to her as most of the young generation kids do.
