Reading habits

What is life without colors? Books are an exception.
They can be colorful without colors.
'Mom,these are for you.' my ten year old brought two thick Harry Potter series for me. I was flabbergasted. 

'Soooooo thick books!' 

I always encouraged book reading in my house or so I thought. In fact, my house is a mini library or sort of. 

I was myself a bookworm type of a kid ever since I knew myself but I was more like Alice in wonderland. I love pictures in a book. No dull words please! 

Reading books without pictures makes me sleepy and that too thick novels like these? No way!

Anyhow, I can't bubble out my thoughts when my kids are so enthusiastic about bringing those all hyped books for me. I show delight.

They want a commitment that I would read these - from beginning till end. I feel like - No Way! but I just smile in a non committal way.

Now, the task. 

Each day, my darling kids ask me,'Mom,have you read the books?''How did you like them.' 'Just tell me the story please' and she put her head on my lap, forcing me to read from those thick covers.

I started or I tried to start, whichever is appropriate.

Here goes...one page...two pages...three pages...that's it! enough! I can't take it any longer with a book which has not pictures. Come on, I accept it.

Cajoling my kids, I offer to show them its movie and here goes my laptop...googling OO

Wish. Mannat. Dua. Have you ever tried making a wish and realizing it getting true. Even that not so happening wishes for ice cream or your new iPod or for that oh so nice person in your life! People visit temple, mosque, church, gurudwara and whatnot. All the places are the same to me. You know, why? Because they make your wishes come true. But how? When we say we are part of nature and God is our own depiction then how come people visit different places of worship and still realize their wish or mannat. Why we have different gods in our hearts; we seek differently things; we believe in different belief systems but still we realize our individual wish or mannat fulfilled. Why? It was a paid workshop and it promised big for a promising career as a social media film maker or you can call it video maker. It was a tea time discussion among us, when one of our senior doctor colleague started a new thread.  She was getting a mixed bout of feelings when she shared her thoughts with us.  These thoughts were further evoked brain storming when I visited many villages and small towns of Rajasthan and found that this is something which really needed our attention. DO WE WISH OUR KIDS TO STAY WITH US OR SETTLE ABROAD ? Her daughter was getting a scholarship to Singapore and she was supposed to join the said institution after her studies, that meant that her daughter would be gone out of her sweet home for about a decade, if not less! Delhi getting colder

I move. No. Do I say I shiver? Yes. I am shivering so I am moving. I am not moving ever since this winter has attacked full on in Delhi and I seem to be the most affected, I suppose. People are roaming around even in their half sleeves but I can’t even imagine myself without my four sweaters, one jacket, two layers of lowers, caps, gloves and socks to be the least items covering me from head to toe. A few days back, I saw a lady in Metro, in a half sleeves dress and seeing her left me in cold but this time I didn't react because I knew she was well off to afford a sweater and she was not in that strata of 'poor lady not having anything warm' types so I ignored. But last year, I literally made a mistake of melting on seeing a girl without socks  and sweater and I somehow felt pity on her. I removed my socks and sweater and stretched to offer them to that girl. She thanklessly and mercilessly took them and threw in the nearest dustbin available...
